off to Cape Town in a week!!

Just browsing around for car hire and so on. suddenly this trip is upon us. Wanting to keep it fresh and not plan everything too much - but also wanting the reassurance of rooms etc sorted out.
We fly in a week and so doing last minute stuff at home and wondering what to take with us. The aniticipation is half the fun of travel. Everyone says we will love Cape Town, That it is the most beautiful place in the world etc etc
Derek, a widely travelled elderley man I work with said "see the townships - that'll be the most interesting thing" which I must say I'd like agree with, but very little in the guides etc apart from guided bus tours which sounds grim.
Maybe will have to look at that when we arrive and get a feel of things.....
